This adventure along the Zafán valley Greenway by bicycle begins in the province of Teruel. In this case we start in Alcañiz, although the Greenway begins earlier, the most comfortable stretch is starting in Alcañiz and ending in Tortosa.
The Vía Verde del Zafán, is a good option for those cyclists who are starting out or want to pedal comfortably through a route that is mostly downhill. Beyond the cultural heritage that can be known in the villages through which it passes, the route passes through Mediterranean plantations of olive trees, almond trees and vineyards as well as pine forests that together with the viaducts and tunnels will make you live a nice cycling experience.
Day 1: Arrival at Tortosa and transfer to Alcañíz
Today, you will arrive in Alcañiz where you will enjoy a good meal and rest before you start pedaling the next day. If you have time, you can do a short stage around the surroundings or enjoy Alcañiz.

Day 2: Alcañíz-Cretas/Valderrobres 43km
Today you will reach the Cretas station, which has been converted into a youth hostel. In addition you will descend gently through the ports of Beceite and you will see the meeting point of the Matarraña river with the Algar.
We recommend you to go down to the river to refresh yourself or have a picnic on the river bank before continuing cycling, as you know that the aim of this trip is to enjoy nature and fresh air while cycling.
Day 3: Valderrobres/Cretas-Tortosa 57km
Today’s stage will be calm, surrounding the various vineyards and enjoying the characteristic smells of the area. The route will take you to the Algar river and its viaduct, where you can rest a bit and take some pictures for the memory. Later, continue along the road until you reach Tortosa, where you will put an end to this cycling adventure. We will be waiting for you to take you back to Alcañiz at the start.

Usual accommodations for the trip
The accommodations for this trip have been selected for their quality and location, as close as possible to the route. Always valuing the comfort when arriving with the bike and inspected by our team. They are 3-4 star hotels and rural tourism accommodations, always in private rooms with bathroom and good food!
I am only one person, can I still book?
Yes, you can book as a single traveler.
Is it possible to rent a bike?
Yes, this trip can be done with either your bike or ours. You can choose it during the booking process, hybrid or electric mountain bikes are available.
Is the daily luggage transfer between accommodations included?
Yes, every day we will take your luggage to the next hotel. You only have to leave it at the reception desk, and we will take care of everything. Normally it will already be at the hotel when you arrive.
Is it possible to cancel?
We want to be as flexible as possible. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, we will do our best to change the dates of the trip free of charge so that you can travel within the same year, as long as you let us know at least 3 weeks in advance.
And if your plans change and you want to cancel the trip before the start date, the following handling fees will apply:
– with more than 30 days, the management fees will be 20% of the amount of the trip.
– between 30 and 15 days, the handling fee will be 50% of the amount of the trip.
– with less than 14 days, the amount to be paid will be 100% of the amount of the trip.
In order to have more flexibility, we recommend taking out travel, assistance, CR and cancellation insurance. Check with us the conditions. Please note that the price of the insurance is not refunded once contracted in case of cancellation or modification.
Are there roads?
Practically the entire trip is on Vias Verdes, tracks or asphalt roads. If you make the stage to Valencia, there are a few kilometers of link that are made by road where you should drive with caution.
