Way of St James

Ride the last stretch of the Camino de Santiago from León to Santiago by bike. Pedal through forests, mountains and rivers and know emblematic places such as the Cruz de Ferro and the mystical O Cebreiro.

It is a good option for those who want to do the Camino de Santiago by bike in two sections. This time it is the last stretch from León in 6 stages and 7 nights.

You can also cycle the first section of the Camino de Santiago from Roncesvalles to León. Or if you are more adventurous you can do the French Way from Roncesvalles to Santiago in one trip.

Do you dare?

Day 1: Arrival at León

The starting point will be the first accommodation in León. It will be a day to relax and get ready to cycle the second part of the Camino de Santiago from León.

Day 2: León – Astorga 53 km

After breakfast and with the final goal in Santiago, we will leave León on our way to Santo Toribio, from where we will be able to see Astorga in a beautiful panoramic view.

Day 3: Astorga – Ponferrada 55km

After a good breakfast we will set off towards the Cruz de Ferro through a beautiful ascent.

The Cruz de Ferro is the highest point of the French Camino de Santiago, at an altitude of 1,550m.

After a well-deserved rest, we will overcome the Montes de León to go down through a beautiful landscape to the valley of Bierzo and Ponferrada.

Day 4: Ponferrada – O Cebreiro 54km

In today’s stage Ponferrada will bid us farewell among vineyards to reach the valley of the river Valcarce. During this stretch we will have to have the camera at hand, as the scenery is worth photographing.

We will leave behind the last villages of León before entering Galicia, pedaling through an ascending mountainous terrain.

Today the end of the stage is in an old village of pallozas, O Cebreiro.

Day 5: O Cebreiro – Portomarín 61km

Today we will cycle through an undulating terrain through a beautiful green landscape, typical of Galicia.

We will descend from O Cebreiro to Triacastela and Sarria through lush forests that will allow us to enjoy the environment in a unique way.

You will cycle through picturesque hills and rural roads to reach Portomarín, on the banks of the river Miño.

Day 6: Portomarín – Arzúa 55km

Another fabulous stage through the beautiful Galicia. Today on mountain trails, we will pass through the Ligonde Mountain to Palas de Rei by an easy route to go to Melinde. Here it is a must to taste the typical octopus.

From here, after tasting the octopus… we will go to Ribadiso, a beautiful place in the middle of nature.

In the few remaining kilometers to Arzúa, we will cycle through a typical Galician landscape full of hills and small picturesque villages.

Day 7: Arzía – Santiago de Compostela 40 km

Today is the big day, we will reach Santiago from Arzúa through trails between meadows and trees.

The moment of arriving at Monte do Gozo and seeing the towers of the Cathedral of Santiago will remain engraved in your memory.

After several stages with the goal of completing the Camino de Santiago by bike, the end of the road is near.

There will be nothing left to reach the Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela.
