Details of the Tuscany by bike trip

Fantastic trip through Tuscany by bicycle, an ideal area for cycling tourism. Not only for its beauty, but also for its gastronomy, history and excellent wines.

The route passes through beautiful vineyard valleys such as the Valle d’Elsa, Chianti (very famous for its wines), Valle d’Arno, Valle d’ Orcia or Crete senesi. The hills and their ups and downs along charming roads will give us the opportunity to enjoy the ride and relax with the views.

The arrival in Siena is spectacular, with its wonderful Piazza del Campo, its typical cathedral and its medieval quarter full of narrow alleys, where we can see fantastic houses of the ancient nobility.

Do you dare to know the beautiful Tuscany by bike?

Day 1: Arrival at Pisa

Today will be a day to relax before starting the adventure of touring Tuscany by bicycle. Take the opportunity to walk around Pisa, discover its most beautiful corners and recharge your batteries. It is a beautiful city, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987.

Day 2: Pisa – Lucca 25/45km 130m+

In this first stage, an easy route will take you north, pedaling along the Serchio River. For those cyclists who want to make the stage a little longer, they can go to Lake Massaciuccoli, before reaching their destination. This lake is an oasis of wildlife, where you can contemplate the tranquility of a small natural paradise. And a place of refuge for composers such as Puccini.

Day 3: Lucca – Montecatini 45km 460m+

From Lucca we will depart on a secondary road with very little traffic to Collodi and Pescia. During the route you will be able to contemplate the green Italian fields. Once in Collodi, make a stop to visit the famous Pinocchio park. Passing through Pescia with the tranquility of its streets, Renaissance mansions, we will continue to Montecatini. In this small town you can breathe tranquility, where you can relax and appreciate nature.

Day 4: Circular Montecatini 60km 530m+

Today gives us the opportunity to pedal a circular route through the Montecatini area, thus getting to know the green hills of Tuscany, the olive groves and vineyards, its thermal springs or historic farms and small famous towns such as Vinci, where he was born. Leonardo da Vinci. For those who prefer to take a break, you can park your bike and take the opportunity to get to know this beautiful UNESCO heritage thermal city in depth. You can even take the Montecatini funicular and enjoy the valley in which it is located.

Day 5: Montecatini – Florence 50km 540m+

New stage that takes us to the famous Renaissance city of Florence. Leaving behind the medieval city of Montecatini Terme, we head towards Pistoia, one of the great forgotten cities of the Tuscany region. Between green fields of crops and cities we will arrive in Florence. The capital of Tuscany, social, cultural, artistic center with a lot of history.

Day 6: Free day in Florence

Before returning to Pisa, today you will have time to visit the city of Florence without rushing. Therefore, take the opportunity to get to know its historic center, visit a museum or gallery and, above all, taste Italian cuisine and recharge your batteries.

Day 7: Florence – Empoli – Pisa 40/65km 300m+

Before finishing our adventure we have one last cycling stage left. You can choose whether to return by bike to Pisa, for a spectacular route, along the Arno River and getting to know Empoli before arriving back in Pisa. Or you can do one of the sections of the stage, taking the train. 

Day 8: Farewell, end of the trip

After a good breakfast, we will end the trip.

Usual accommodations
The accommodations for this trip have been selected for their quality and location, as close as possible to the route. Always valuing the comfort when arriving with the bike and inspected by our team. They are 3-4 star hotels and rural tourism accommodations, always in private rooms with bathroom and good food!

I am only one person, can I still book?

Yes, you can book as a single traveler.

Is it possible to rent a bike?

Yes, this trip can be done with either your bike or ours. You can choose it during the booking process, hybrid or electric mountain bikes are available.

Is the daily luggage transfer between accommodations included?

Yes, every day we will take your luggage to the next hotel. You only have to leave it at the reception desk, and we will take care of everything. Normally it will already be at the hotel when you arrive.

Is it possible to cancel?

We want to be as flexible as possible. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, we will do our best to change the dates of the trip free of charge so that you can travel within the same year, as long as you let us know at least 3 weeks in advance.

And if your plans change and you want to cancel the trip before the start date, the following handling fees will apply:

– with more than 30 days, the management fees will be 20% of the amount of the trip.

– between 30 and 15 days, the handling fee will be 50% of the amount of the trip.

– with less than 14 days, the amount to be paid will be 100% of the amount of the trip.

In order to have more flexibility, we recommend taking out travel, assistance, CR and cancellation insurance. Check with us the conditions. Please note that the price of the insurance is not refunded once contracted in case of cancellation or modification.

Are there roads?

Practically the entire trip is on Vias Verdes, tracks or asphalt roads. If you make the stage to Valencia, there are a few kilometers of link that are made by road where you should drive with caution.
