Despite the fact that the Danube can be covered by bicycle almost entirely, from Donaueschingen to its mouth in the Black Sea in Romania, the most common sections are these three:
We suggest you travel along the Danube by bike in a comfortable way, with everything organized and with the sole task of enjoying pedaling.
Choose the stretch of the Danube that best suits you and get to know this classic bike trip through Europe.
We propose three options that for us are the most characteristic:
Any of the three options are 8 riding days, 7 nights and 6 stages of easy level in general.
This is the stretch of the Danube by bike that starts from the source of the river, from the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen. It is a beautiful area with a lot of forest located between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb Mountains.
After this first more mountainous part, the last part of the trip will be flatter. This section is the wildest in terms of the landscape where you pedal, while at the same time you can see fertile lands and typical German agricultural villages from Oberschwaben to Donauwörth.
The journey begins in Donaueschingen.
The bike trip ends in Donauwörth.
Pedaling along the Danube by bike, just as Roman emperors and kings did years ago, is one of the most outstanding cycling experiences in Europe.
It is about traveling an old commercial and military route with a lot of history. This section begins in the city of the three rivers, Passau and will end in Vienna after visiting several provinces of the Austrian country.
The landscape and environment through which you pedal is fantastic: the valleys, forests, rivers and rural areas will not leave you indifferent. In addition, along the way you will have the opportunity to taste its rich gastronomy.
In short, this section is very complete in terms of doing some sport, eating well and learning a new culture.
The journey begins in Schärding / Passau.
The journey ends in Vienna
This section stands out for the numerous capitals through which it passes as well as for the differences in each country: Austria, Hungary and Slovakia.
Among the cities, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest stand out, but there are many villages that still preserve their essence of the past in which it will be worth stopping to explore.
We will pedal along castles such as Carnuntum or Kelemantia, we will see impressive palaces, we will pass through Rye, a famous island for its rich fauna.
It is a journey to relax and unwind. You cycle on bike lanes and relatively quiet back roads. There is also some fun stretch of unpaved track without difficulty.
The journey begins in Vienna.
The journey ends in Budapest.
