Details of the Provence by bike trips
A great 5-day cycling trip through Provence that will allow you to discover the charm, history and culture of this wonderful French region.
You will travel from Orange to Séguret, cycling along roads surrounded by olive groves and aromatic plants such as lavender, an experience that will enchant all your senses and we hope you enjoy the Provençal countryside!
You will discover the calm and relaxed pace of life in the South of France, the good atmosphere and excellent food. The cycling trip will take you through small towns like Nyons, charming villages, Roman ruins like those of Vaison la Romaine, and much more.
You will also cross many wineries and charming villages, where you can get to know their way of life and relax in one of their most traditional places, to taste a good rosé wine, or local products such as fresh goat cheese or dried tomatoes, a unique experience that will delight your taste buds!
You can also take the opportunity to buy some souvenirs and artisan products such as honey.
Without a doubt, it is an ideal place to take a break from the routine and recharge your batteries surrounded by an ideal environment!
Day 1: Arrival at Orange
Today, you can take the opportunity to get to know a little more about the city of Orange, walking through its streets and visiting its main points of interest.
This city was a former Dutch possession, owned by the Princes of Orange, to whom it owes its name.
One of the most representative and most visited places in the city is its Roman theatre, which miraculously remains intact and is therefore part of the Unesco World Heritage Site. You can’t miss a visit!
Day 2: Orange-Suze la Rousse 25km
Today you will start your route from the town of Orange, which you got to know better the day before.
Today’s stage will take you through a plain surrounded by vineyards, with wonderful views of Mont Ventoux on the horizon. You will pass through traditional wine-producing villages with a unique charm that will leave you wanting more.
Today’s goal is to reach the University of Wine in Suze la Rousse.
Yes, you read that right, there is a University of Wine!
Day 3: Suze la Rousse-Nyons 40km
After breakfast, you will leave Suze la Rousse behind and drive through the vineyards to Venterol, a picturesque village in the Eygues valley.
Afterwards, you will start to descend gently through roads surrounded by olive trees, until you reach the small town of Nyons, known mainly for its ability to produce various good quality national products (olive oil, lavender, soaps…).
We recommend that you spend some time getting to know the town, tasting some of these products and even doing some shopping, you will certainly spend a nice day strolling through its streets.
Day 4: Nyons-Séguret 33km
Shortly after leaving Nyons, you will cross the Eyeques River and continue along magnificent roads surrounded by olive groves and a wide open valley, with breathtaking views!
After a visit to the village of Mirabel aux Baronnies, and enjoy its tranquillity in the middle of nature, we will continue today’s stage through vineyards with enchanting views.
The road will take us to the pretty village of Vaison la Romaine, situated on a hill, so we will have to climb up to reach it. There you can visit its Roman ruins and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views with Mont Ventoux in the background.
When you have finished your visit, continue on to the medieval village of Séguret, known for being part of “one of the most beautiful villages in France”.

Day 5: Séguret-Orange 25/48km
Today we give you the choice between two options:
Option 1 (short): Cycle around the surrounding Montmirail Ranges, known for their hiking trails and enjoy the views of the rocky massif. Discover some of the hidden secrets of the traditional winemakers who work in world-famous villages such as Sablet and Gigondas. The stage will end back in the old town of Orange.
Option 2 (long option): It takes you to the salt pond in the town of Courthézo, a well-located town with a great cultural heritage that is sure to surprise you!
We recommend you to enjoy a magnificent wine on the way back, to celebrate the end of this last stage before the end of the trip.

What is it like to do the Provence bike trip

The hotels on this trip have been selected to provide maximum comfort for cyclists. They are 2/3* and B&B accommodations. All with private bathrooms and inspected by our team.
I am only one person, can I still book?
Yes, you can book as a single traveler.
Is it possible to rent a bike?
Yes, this trip can be done with either your bike or ours. You can choose it during the booking process, hybrid or electric mountain bikes are available.
Is the daily luggage transfer between accommodations included?
Yes, every day we will take your luggage to the next hotel. You only have to leave it at the reception desk, and we will take care of everything. Normally it will already be at the hotel when you arrive.
Is it possible to cancel?
We want to be as flexible as possible. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, we will do our best to change the dates of the trip free of charge so that you can travel within the same year, as long as you let us know at least 3 weeks in advance.
And if your plans change and you want to cancel the trip before the start date, the following handling fees will apply:
– with more than 30 days, the management fees will be 20% of the amount of the trip.
– between 30 and 15 days, the handling fee will be 50% of the amount of the trip.
– with less than 14 days, the amount to be paid will be 100% of the amount of the trip.
In order to have more flexibility, we recommend taking out travel, assistance, CR and cancellation insurance. Check with us the conditions. Please note that the price of the insurance is not refunded once contracted in case of cancellation or modification.
Are there roads?
Practically the entire trip is on Vias Verdes, tracks or asphalt roads. If you make the stage to Valencia, there are a few kilometers of link that are made by road where you should drive with caution.
