Details of the French Brittany by bike trip

Travel to Brittany by bike to discover this mysterious peninsula and visit places you will always remember for the magic they exude, their characteristic smells and spectacular views.

During the trip you will have the opportunity to discover the secret of Mont Saint Michel and find out what happens when the tide comes in. Fairytale villages such as Dinan or Dinard, well known among the English for its spas.

This trip will allow you to get to know the most important cities and the most hidden villages, as you will travel through the territory by bike paths and rural roads very quiet and close to the coast and its canals, an easy and comfortable option to get to know the area with your family (it is suitable for children over 10 years old)!

We hope you already have your bike ready and you sign up for this adventure!

Day 1: Arrival at Rennes

Arrival in Rennes, capital of Brittany.

This beautiful city is known as the “young city”, since in 1970 most of it was devastated by fire and was almost entirely rebuilt. Now the surviving parts coexist with the new ones, forming a nice mix between the traditional and the modern.

You will have the whole day to visit the places that interest you the most, and we recommend that you do not miss the specialty of the area, the crepes, you can find them in countless flavors!

Also if you are an art lover, you can visit the local Museum of Fine Arts, where you can find works by world famous artists such as Boticelli or Picasso.

Day 2:  Rennes – Héde 45 km

Today’s stage will take you to Hédé, starting near the Ille-et-Rance canal, surrounded by houses decorated with lots of flowers and love. In addition, you will enjoy the wonderful views of the canal and all the small boats that you will find along the way.

At the end, Hédé and its famous eleven locks await you. Are you ready to discover what they really are?

Day 3: Hédé – Dinan 38 km

Today, you will continue along the canal and the towpath, surrounded by lush vegetation and fresh air.

Once you arrive in Dinan, we recommend you to look for a good restaurant to try the delicious French food, it will surely win you over! Later you can stroll through its cobblestone streets and discover why it is considered one of the most beautiful villages and what makes it so magical.

Day 4: Dinan – Saint-Malo 25 km

After breakfast, get your bike ready to continue along the towpath, which today will take you through various forests and native flower gardens.

You will ride along old railroad lines, which will make your stage a smooth and relaxing ride before arriving in Dinard. We hope you will spend some time visiting it and take some pictures of its beautiful mansions with the ocean in the background.

Day 5: Saint Malo: circular route in Cancale 42km

Today, we recommend you to spend the whole day visiting Saint Malo. This large port city was a place of pirates and privateers in the past, so we invite you to visit its impressive fortifications and luxury mansions.

If you prefer, you can stroll along the nearby country roads and visit some of the most famous spots of the coast, taste some oysters in a local restaurant or take a swim at the beach.

Day 6: Saint Malo – Dol de Bretagne 40 km

Today you leave Saint Malo behind and it is time to head towards Dol de la Bretagne.

Once there you can visit its beautiful Cathedral and some of its museums, open to the public. You can take the opportunity to rest and taste some typical dishes.

Day 7: Dol de Bretagne – Pontorson 38 km

Today’s tour will take you to the world famous bay of Mont Saint Michel, it’s time to visit the magnificent rocky island of Mont Saint Michel, which you will easily find along the large bay. Ready to discover why they call it a ghost town?
