Details of the Dordogne by bike trip

Discover the magnificent Dordogne region by bike, 6 wonderful days traveling through its valleys and discovering its natural and gastronomic diversity with every pedal stroke.

You will be able to visit some of the most famous vineyards and castles in the typical villages of the area, which you will ride through during this experience. In addition, you will cross valleys such as the Valley of Man, where you can discover some of the cave paintings found in its prehistoric sites and move with the bike through ancient troglodyte villages.

An incredible experience that will take you back in time!

You will ride along the banks of the river and have the opportunity to do some different activities, such as a canoe trip, before visiting various medieval fortifications, such as Sarlat or Montignac.

Day 1: Arrival at Bergerac

Today, after your arrival, this adventure will begin in the medieval town of Bergerac.

We hope you will have time to stroll around the city, on the banks of the Dordogne River, and discover the most special corners of its streets that are so dear to its inhabitants.

Day 2: Monbazillac 33km

Today you will arrive in the town of Monbazillac, where you can visit its beautiful 16th century castle, known to be part of its most important heritage and also classified as a historical monument.

We recommend a leisurely visit to the town and a glass of its white wine, appellation of origin and specialty of the house.

Day 3: Bergerac – Le Bugue 52km

Today you will pedal leisurely along an old greenway, along the river, where you can enjoy wonderful views of the boats and the surrounding nature.

You will cross the famous Valley of Man and its 15 prehistoric sites, which are part of the World Heritage Site by Unesco.

Today’s stage will take you to Le Bugue, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the town or enjoy shopping for local produce at the market (depending on the day of the visit).

Day 4: Le Bugue – Montignac 38km

Today, after breakfast you will leave for Montignac, where you can visit one of its beautiful and intriguing caves and caverns to discover the ancient cave paintings.

The Lascaux Cave, without a doubt a different option that will take you back in time!

On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit the prehistoric capital of the world, Les Eyzies. We hope you will have time to visit the National Museum of prehistory.

Today you will rest in Montignac, bed and breakfast.

Day 5: Montignac – Sarlat 43km

Today, after breakfast, you will leave Montignac behind to cycle gently along some country roads, until you reach Sarlat. On the way, we recommend you to make some stops, to discover the gardens of Eyrignac and take some pictures – a nice visit to these well-kept gardens!

Upon arrival in Sarlat, give yourself some time to get to know this pretty town, and the spectacle that all its heritage offers, both historical and artistic as well as gastronomic, as it hosts one of the most important traditional markets in the area.

Day 6: Roque-Gageac 43km
