Dare to discover Portugal by pedaling along the Portuguese Atlantic Coast on a mountain bike or hybrid bike! Discover the wonders of this beautiful country, known for its dream beaches, its ancient cities, its wide gastronomy and wine culture.
Travel through the territory and marvel at its way of life, how well they have preserved the traditions and local products, without a doubt a good know-how.
Along the way, you will discover some of the most beautiful and wild cliffs of the Atlantic, cycling among other places by the Cabo Sardão, where you will enjoy panoramic views of the end of the earth. In addition, the tour will take you through the most famous cities such as Lisbon or Setúbal or the incredible Algarve region, the favorite of many surfers.
Undoubtedly a complete 8-day trip that will combine all kinds of landscapes to make your experience in Portugal extraordinary and leave you wanting more.
Day 1: Arrival at the first hotel in Lisboa
We recommend that you arrive as early as possible to Lisbon, to be able to spend the day visiting it. This city has managed to perfectly preserve its oldest attractions and has combined them with modernity and a good atmosphere. You can visit some of its most famous neighborhoods, stroll through its narrow cobblestone streets and travel in one of its classic streetcars for some of its 6 different routes.
At night you can go out to dinner at some of the restaurants in the area and try some of the most typical dishes, most of them based on fish, due to its proximity to the sea and the Tagus River.
Day 2: Lisboa – Costa da Caparica 21km
Today, early in the morning, you will head to Bethlehem to visit the Hieronymites monastery and its beautiful tower by the shore.
Don’t forget to try their pastries! The queue at the pastry shop will certainly be worth it.
Later head back towards Lisbon and take a break at the commerce square, with magnificent views of the Tagus.
Once you are ready you will continue to Trafaria where you will walk along paths surrounded by nature to finally reach your goal for today, the coast of Caparica, one of the longest beaches in Europe. You will be able to rest there for the rest of the day and recharge your batteries for tomorrow.
Day 3: Costa da Caparica-Setúbal 59km
Today you will enjoy a beautiful stage, surrounded by nature and tall pine trees, you will cross the Arrábida Natural Park and enjoy the outdoors and the combination of mountain and beach. You will pass by the banks of the river and you can take a refreshing swim in one of the most famous beaches of the region.
The day will end in the city of Setubal, a charming and ideal city, where you can try some of the typical dishes, such as fried cuttlefish.
Day 4: Setúbal – Sines 76 km
Today will start with a wonderful boat ride through the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, home to hundreds of animals such as dolphins and birds. If you are lucky, you may even see some visitors along the way.
Later on, resume the itinerary and start pedaling through the Serra da Arrábida with its wonderful views. Today’s stage will also take you to beautiful beaches, such as Comporta beach, where you can take a refreshing swim before continuing to Sines, on the coast.
Day 5: Sines – Vila Nova de Mil Fontes 40km
Today the stage will start in Sines, Vasco de Gama’s hometown. Today will be more gentle and you will cycle surrounded by nature, breathing fresh air and visiting several beaches, such as São Torpes or Morgavel.
Along the way you will get to know some of the most typical Alentejo villages and their houses that are kept in harmony thanks to their tonalities, giving wonderful views from the heights. Before arriving in Vila Nova de Mil Fontes you can enjoy and take some pictures of the Pessegueiro Island.
Day 6: Vila Nova de Milfontes – Aljezur 71 km
Today’s tour will take you along the coast, where you will visit places of great interest such as Cabo Sardão where you can enjoy wonderful views of the Atlantic and take some pictures of its lighthouse to remember. From there you will also have some ideal panoramic views of the cliffs.
Continue pedaling in the middle of nature, through the raspberry orchards and enjoying the characteristic smells of the area. Today you will also be able to enjoy several typical villages and taste some of their delicious food.
Day 7: Aljezur – Sagres 63 km
Since you have already arrived in the Algarve, we suggest you to visit some of its rural villages, where you can taste some of the local products of the local market traders. Today you will take a leisurely stroll through the Southwest Alentejo Park and Costa Vicentina, and you can also take a swim in one of the beaches that you will find on your way.
You can not miss a visit to Cabo San Vicente and its spectacular lighthouse. Today’s tour will end in the city of Sagres, where you will rest in a cozy accommodation.

Usual accommodations
The hotels on this trip have been selected to provide maximum comfort for cyclists. During this trip along the Atlantic Coast in Portugal, you will stay in 4* hotels. However, depending on availability, 3* hotels may also be available.
I am only one person, can I still book?
Yes, you can book as a single traveler.
Is it possible to rent a bike?
Yes, this trip can be done with either your bike or ours. You can choose it during the booking process, hybrid or electric mountain bikes are available.
Is the daily luggage transfer between accommodations included?
Yes, every day we will take your luggage to the next hotel. You only have to leave it at the reception desk, and we will take care of everything. Normally it will already be at the hotel when you arrive.
Is it possible to cancel?
We want to be as flexible as possible. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, we will do our best to change the dates of the trip free of charge so that you can travel within the same year, as long as you let us know at least 3 weeks in advance.
And if your plans change and you want to cancel the trip before the start date, the following handling fees will apply:
– with more than 30 days, the management fees will be 20% of the amount of the trip.
– between 30 and 15 days, the handling fee will be 50% of the amount of the trip.
– with less than 14 days, the amount to be paid will be 100% of the amount of the trip.
In order to have more flexibility, we recommend taking out travel, assistance, CR and cancellation insurance. Check with us the conditions. Please note that the price of the insurance is not refunded once contracted in case of cancellation or modification.
Are there roads?
Practically the entire trip is on Vias Verdes, tracks or asphalt roads. If you make the stage to Valencia, there are a few kilometers of link that are made by road where you should drive with caution.
