Enjoy the Northwest Greenway and the Ricote Valley by bike in Murcia. This Greenway takes advantage of the old railway line in the northwest of the region from the capital, Murcia, to the capital of the northwest of Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz. Quality cycle touring with a great deal of culture.
It will be a route full of the crossroads of cultures and a territory steeped in history. This route passes through the valley of the Segura River and Ricote Valley, with numerous archaeological finds, churches and temples with a high pictorial and sculptural value.
First of all, you will cycle through a landscape of abundant orchards in the Segura valley. Then you will ride along paths of pine forests, almond trees and impressive badlands, entering fully into the Ricote Valley. Contemplating a unique and beautiful natural landscape.
Day 1: Arrival at Murcia
The first day will be spent unpacking, resting and visiting the beautiful city of Murcia.
Day 2: Murcia-Mula 54km
We will leave Murcia on the Vía Amable de la Ñora along quiet roads through the Huerta de Murcia. Then we will take the Noroeste Greenway in the direction of Mula, through an arid landscape. Once in Mula, you can’t miss its fortress.
Day 3: Mula-Caravaca de la Cruz 45km
You will cycle over viaducts and through tunnels through the mountains of the Bullas region, known for its wineries and wine production. Before arriving in Caravaca we will pass through the old town of Cehegín, which has been declared a Historic Site. And through an immense meadow of carnations and flowers in the beautiful valley.
Caravaca has a high natural and historical heritage value, with its Sanctuary, fountains and traces of the passage of different civilizations throughout history.
Day 4: Caravaca-Calasparra 45km
Today we will head towards the Segura River Valley. Entering a wide and green landscape of centenary trees. We will cycle through Moratalla, a medieval village with a magnificent castle. Finally, we will approach the valley of the river Argos to reach Calasparra. Calasparra also has a spectacular castle and incredible views.
Day 5: Calasparra-Cieza 46km
A visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Esperanza, patron saint of Calasparra, declared a Site of Geological Interest, is a must. We will change from a natural landscape to a completely different one. You will cycle to the Ricote Valley in Cieza, along roads full of abundant vegetation; poplars, elms, willows… reservoirs and mountain landscapes.
Day 6: Cieza-Murcia 60km
In the last stage, you will enjoy the Ricote Valley, with its green orchards of orange and lemon trees, palm trees and arid peaks. Cycling through charming villages until you leave the valley behind and return to the orchards of Murcia.
Day 7: End of the trip, return home

Is it possible to rent a bike?
Yes, this trip can be done with either your bike or ours. You can choose it during the booking process, hybrid or electric mountain bikes are available.
Is the daily luggage transfer between accommodations included?
Yes, every day we will take your luggage to the next hotel. You only have to leave it at the reception desk, and we will take care of everything. Normally it will already be at the hotel when you arrive.
Is it possible to cancel?
We want to be as flexible as possible. Therefore, in case of unforeseen circumstances, we will do our best to change the dates of the trip free of charge so that you can travel within the same year, as long as you let us know at least 3 weeks in advance.
And if your plans change and you want to cancel the trip before the start date, the following handling fees will apply:
– with more than 30 days, the management fees will be 20% of the amount of the trip.
– between 30 and 15 days, the handling fee will be 50% of the amount of the trip.
– with less than 14 days, the amount to be paid will be 100% of the amount of the trip.

Are there roads?
Practically the entire trip is on Vias Verdes, tracks or asphalt roads. If you make the stage to Valencia, there are a few kilometers of link that are made by road where you should drive with caution.
