Berlin to Copenhagen by Bike

 11 days / 10 nights/ 9 Stages– Easy–Medium

A scenic international journey combining lakes, coastline and vibrant cities across Germany and Denmark.

Flat to gently rolling terrain on well-marked cycle paths, coastal roads and ferry crossings.

Day 1: Arrival in Oranienburg / Berlin Spandau Area

A relaxing day to explore the German capital before starting your first cycling stage.

Day 2: Oranienburg / Berlin Spandau – Zehdenick / Fürstenberg | 36 / 75 km

Cycle from Oranienburg along the Havel Canal to Zehdenick.

Stop at the Mildenberg Industrial Museum-Park to learn about the history of what was once Europe’s largest brick manufacturing area.

Day 3: Zehdenick / Fürstenberg – Neustrelitz | 45 / 79 km

The Mecklenburg Lake District begins at the Großer Stechlin, immortalized in literature by Theodor Fontane.

On the way to Neustrelitz, you’ll pass several lakes, both small and large. The destination, Neustrelitz, was once the royal residence. Its castle park, star-shaped market square, and city layout reflect the history of the Grand Duchy of Strelitz.

Day 4: Neustrelitz – Waren (Müritz) | 65 km

This stage takes you through Müritz National Park, Germany’s largest terrestrial national park. This protected area is a refuge for endangered flora and fauna.

Visit the H. Schliemann Museum in Ankershagen to explore the life of the discoverer of Troy. Cycle calmly to the spa town of Waren / Müritz.

Day 5: Waren (Müritz) – Güstrow | 69 km

Leave the lively town of Waren and enter Nossentiner Heide National Park, with its vast forests and crystal-clear lakes.

Arrive in Güstrow, the birthplace of Ernst Barlach. A visit to the old town, the castle, and Barlach’s studio is highly recommended.

Day 6: Güstrow – Rostock | 54 km

Cycle along the Bützow-Güstrow Canal to Rostock.

Alternatively, you can take a train to Rostock from several stations along the route (own arrangement).

Day 7: Rostock – Nykøbing / Falster | 40 km

Cycle to the Rostock ferry port, about 12 km.

The ferry to Gedser, Denmark (included) takes approximately 2 hours. On the Danish side, enjoy a beautiful route along dikes and small forests by the beaches of Falster.

Day 8: Nykøbing / Falster – Stege | 75 km

Cycle along the coast on mostly easy terrain to reach the old trading town of Stubbekøbing.

Take the ferry (own arrangement) to Bogø Island, or, if you prefer, cycle via Vordingborg to Kalvehave and reach Møn Island.

Day 9: Stege – Rødvig / Køge

Cross the Møn Bridge to Zealand. Farmhouses and mansions surrounded by farmland define the landscape.

Faxe Ladeplads is about 55 km away.

Rødvig is about 75 km away.

If you stay overnight in Rødvig, that is your destination. If you stay in Køge, you can take the train from either location (own arrangement). Competitive cyclists may continue cycling the full distance of approximately 107 km to Køge.

Day 10: Rødvig / Køge – Copenhagen | 41–75 km

If you stayed in Rødvig, today’s stage follows the beaches. From the village church of Højerup, enjoy a unique view of the chalk cliffs, Stevns Klint.

In Køge, you can visit the local history museum, Køge Byhistoriske Arkiv, before continuing to Copenhagen.

End the day enjoying the bustling city and spend your last night near the Tivoli Gardens.
