Travel to France and discover the famous region of Alsace by bike from Strasbourg to Colmar for 6 days and discover the great historical heritage it holds!

During this trip you will have the opportunity to visit some of the most characteristic villages of the region, listed as the most beautiful, picturesque or charming villages of Alsace, which you will find repeatedly in the top 5 of Alsatian municipalities.

You can enjoy a perfect holiday surrounded by culture and history. And when strolling through these places, you will notice the mixture of cultures that coexist here, as over the years, it has belonged to both Germany and France.

The cycling route will take you along quiet trails and little-travelled roads next to vineyards and close to traditional wine villages, such as Rosheim, Andlau Itterswiller or Châtenois, where you will learn a lot and have the opportunity to taste one in particular.

This trip will be a combination of tradition and culture, where you will be able to visit ancient castles and medieval fortifications. Discovering Alsace by bike is a good option for families with children aged 12 and over.

Are you up for discovering this intriguing region by bike?

Day 1: Estrasburgo

Arrival in Strasbourg, the famous French city known worldwide for its Gothic cathedral, Notre Dame. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy the daily shows offered by the city’s astronomical clock or a stroll along the Rhine River.

We hope you are well rested and are looking forward to cycling tomorrow.

Day 2: Estrasburgo-Molsheim 25km

Today’s stage will start after breakfast, and will take you along the Canal de la Bruche, built in 1682 by Vauban in order to transport the materials needed to build the fortifications of Strasbourg.

The route will take you along a cycle path, where you can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the surroundings, surrounded by fragrant flowers and traditional wine-growing villages.

Later you will reach the famous Alsace Wine Route, this tourist route of more than 170km runs through the main wine-growing communes, including Colmar.

We hope you enjoy yourselves surrounded by so much diversity!

Day 3: Molsheim-Itterswille 35km

Continue along the Wine Route at your leisure and take time to visit the monuments, churches and bell towers of the villages you pass through.

Today’s goal is to reach Itterswiller, a village hidden in the traditional vineyards, where you will rest for the night. The route will be gentle and you will be able to enjoy the views, as you will pass along old railway lines (French Greenways) and sections of old Roman road.

Are you a great lover of wine culture like us?

Day 4: Itterswiller area-Selestat area 20km

Today we give you a choice of two itineraries before arriving in Selestat:

Option 1: Continue through the vineyards passing through the charming villages of Blienschwiller, Dambach-la-Ville and Scherwiller, where you can see the ruins of Ortenbourg Castle.

Option 2: (more sporty) Leave the vineyards and discover the Vosges mountain range, a great massif. Walk along its slopes and visit Saint Pierre Bois and Thanville, two beautiful villages.

From there, take the old “Salt Road”, a beautiful cycle path that will lead you through the leafy forest to your goal, Sélestat.

Day 5: Selestat-Colmar 37km

Sélestat, known for its famous castle and beautiful views, is nestled in the Vosges mountain range and the lower Rhine River.

When you are ready, get your bike ready and head towards Bergheim, a curious medieval village, which still preserves all its fortifications in very good condition.

Afterwards, you will climb the hill to reach the first streets of Ribeauvillé, where you will fall in love with its fairy-tale houses!

In addition to this one, you will be able to visit more villages along the way, considered some of the most charming villages in the whole region.

Today’s stage will end with a well-deserved descent to the city of Colmar, where you will rest in one of its peaceful accommodations.

Day 6: Ruta circular Eguisheim 35km

After breakfast, you will leave Colmar to continue through the countryside to Eguisheim, a magical village, full of cobbled streets and squares filled with decorative flowers, which have won several awards for their beauty and the value they bring to the town.

We recommend a break in Ammerschwihr to enjoy a glass of Kaefferkopf (the oldest appellation of origin in Alsace) before heading back to the city of Colmar, where this wonderful trip will end.

We hope you have enjoyed this adventure and learned a lot about the cultivation and preparation of its wonderful wines.
